Having seen the enormous potential in the quality wines of the Olifants River Wine Route, Vodacom has pledged its support to the promotion of this wine region for a period of 3 years, during which time financial assistance will be provided while at the same time increasing its marketing drive to its customer base in the flower rich area along the N7 route. This wine route will in future be known as the Olifants River Vodacom Wine Route and Vodacom will also be expanding network coverage along the N7 route from Van Rynsdorp up to Vioolsdrif, scheduled for completion end of August 2006.
The Olifants River Vodacom wine route includes some of the largest wine cellars in the country like the Westcorp, Lutzville vineyards and Klawer wine cellars and also one unique cellar that apart from organic wine also produces exceptional products like grape pip oil and verijuice.
At the recent launch of this exciting new alliance Olifants River winemakers displayed their best wines, which included amongst others Johan Schreuder of Lutzville Vineyards who introduced four top new wines: Fryer's Cove 2005 Sauvignon Blanc, Stoumann's 2005 Olifants River Young Wine show Champion blended wine, Seal Breeze 2004 Olifants River Young Wine Show champion Shiraz and Stellar's dry Rosè.
Koos Thiart, winemaker at Westcorp treated guests to Spruitdrift's 2004 Merlot and 2004 Ruby Cabernet/Pinotage blend, while Hermias Hugo of Klawer offered their 2004 Shiraz to the taste.
There are also numerous very small boutique cellars on the Olifants River Vodacom wine route where visitors are heartily welcomed and can hunt around for wines of their choice. Some already well known, some waiting to be discovered...
